Free Golf Golf Ball photo and pictureThere’s nothing worse than being cooped up at work or at home when you see that it’s a beautiful day outside. You see the sun shining, the leaves swaying in the breeze, and you want to get out there but you’re not sure what outdoor activities you can do. Luckily there are many things to do outside near Sterling, VA. To help you plan your day out, check out our favorites here!

1. Golfing at Herndon Centennial Golf Course

If you want an activity that both lets you get outside and relax at the same time, then you need to consider spending a day on the golf course. And one of the best golfing spots in the area is Herndon Centennial Golf Course in Herndon. They have beautiful golf greens set in wooded scenery and complete with small ponds that let you feel at one with the natural world while challenging yourself to get under par.

Herndon Centennial Golf Course is complete with 18 holes and is par 71, and was named among Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” for 18 years in a row. Don’t wait any longer and get your golf gloves on!

2. Hiking at Difficult Run

Despite its name, hiking at Difficult Run isn’t really too hard! It’s a trail that meanders through the Virginia forest along the Difficult Run stream, which is a tributary of the Potomac River. The trail is a 5.1-mile loop that gains 443 feet of elevation along its duration and is made of dirt and rock trails with a bit of gravel and rock shambles. It’s dog-friendly, so bring Fido along, too!

The best part of the hike at Difficult Run is going to the Great Falls overlooks, where you can see some of the rapids along the Potomac!

3. Strolling Along Sugarland Run Stream Valley Park

If you want to get a taste of nature while still staying close to home, then we recommend that you pay a visit to Sugarland Run Stream Valley Park. The park follows the Sugarland Run stream for several miles, where you can see some local birds and wildlife while you get some exercise!

Common animals seen on the trail are turtles and tortoises, deer, herons, and even vultures! So make sure to pack your camera in your Chevy when you go on your walk!

When you bring your friends or family to go hiking, walking, or golfing with you, you’re going to want to make sure they can all ride comfortably. So make sure you’re driving a roomy vehicle like the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer with its best-in-class rear legroom. Check one out at Ted Britt Chevrolet today!
