The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a fantastic pickup truck for people who want a light-duty truck that’s strong and easy to drive. You’ll find many configurations of it at your Chevy dealer, and it’s definitely worth learning a little more about it.

Powerful Engine Options

The Silverado 1500 has numerous strong engine choices, and each one has a capability that’ll serve you well. If you need the highest trailering capacity possible, then you’ll need the Duramax 3-liter turbodiesel engine pumping out 495 lb-ft of torque and 300 hp. It’ll let you tow up to 13,300 pounds.

The other three engine options will serve you very well, too, if you’d prefer one of them under the hood of your Silverado 1500. Those engines are:

  • 2.7-liter I4 L3B TurboMax with 410 lb-ft of torque and 310 hp
  • 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with 383 lb-ft of torque and 355 hp
  • 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 with 460 lb-ft of torque and 420 hp

Off-Roading in the ZR2

If you’d like to head out on the trails, then the ZR2 trim is one you should definitely consider. All configurations of the Silverado 1500 are more than capable of taking on tougher conditions, but the ZR2 is designed specifically to excel off the road.

This trim will give you 33-inch MT tires, an off-road cut front bumper, and multimatic DSSV dampers. Its chassis and suspension have been built and calibrated for off-road conditions, and the large aluminum skid plates under its body help protect the truck from debris and obstacles that it has to drive over.

Super Functional Bed

There are 12 standard tie-downs in the bed to help you secure your important cargo. The cargo itself is best-in-class, as you have 81.9 cubic feet of space to fit everything you need to transport. A power-up and down tailgate is available to make loading and unloading a little easier for you. The truck is also equipped with Chevy’s unique multi-flex tailgate that lets you put your tailgate into six useful positions.

Plenty of Connectivity

If you need to stay connected to the outside world while you’re in the cabin, then you should get one of the available touchscreens. You can opt for a 12.3-inch screen or a 13.4-inch one. Both have wireless smartphone compatibility, and Google is built in so you can get answers to questions about your destination when you’re on the road. You can also use the screen to access many of Chevy’s available connected services.
