Enjoy swimming in Sterling with some of these spots we recommend.

Close to the Potomac River that divides Maryland and Virginia and near multiple lakes and streams, Sterling, VA, is an excellent place for those looking to enjoy some swimming. No matter where you are in town, be it by Claude Moore Park or on Stirling Boulevard, there’s always a destination a short drive away if you want to have a little swim. Here are some of the best swim spots in or near this fantastic Virginian town.

1. Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center

Found within the impressive Claude Moore Park, this large community center is home to a competition standard pool, making it great for those who want to practice their various strokes and techniques. Located at 46105 Loudoun Park Lane, this facility is excellent for all types of swimmers.

The pool is 25 yards to 50 meters, making it versatile for all swim options. There should always be three lanes open for a session no matter the time, meaning you can turn up at your leisure to get an excellent workout. For the more fun-focused swimmers, the facility has a leisure pool with a water slide, play area, hot tub, and vortex.

2. SwimBox

If you’ve never swum before or just want lessons to improve, then SwimBox is a great location. The provider offers bespoke classes and training one-on-one, meaning you’ll get full support and attention from the trainers. Swimbox is like a water-based treadmill, as you’ll swim against a programmed current that’s best suited to your abilities.

SwimBox is located at 22149 Davis Drive, making it easy to get to with a car from Ted Britt Chevrolet. Plus, if you get a new Chevrolet Blazer, you won’t have to worry about driving back home damp, as the heated seats will be able to keep you warm and dry. Although Swimbox is best for first-timers, this innovative option is also great for those wanting to prevent injury when training.

3. SafeSplash

If you’re looking to swim with child family members, then SafeSplash can be a great location. Found right on the outskirts of Sterling at 21800 Towncenter Plaza, this swim school and pool is an 11 minutes drive from the other side of town, making it easy to get to. This indoor swim location offers warm water lessons for children and adults all year round, meaning you can swim no matter the weather outside.

SafeSplash is known for small class sizes, allowing their instructors to focus on each individual’s needs and goals, helping to provide a bespoke experience. You’ll have to enroll for a few lessons before you can swim at this facility, but the training makes it worth it and helps you become better at this vital skill. SafeSplash is open from 8 am on the weekends and closes as late as 8 pm on certain weekdays.

No matter where you decide to swim near Sterling, you’ll need a car that can get you there reliably and that’s also comfortable. It’ll also need to be easy to clean in case you’re still a bit soggy after your swim and need storage space to put all your gear.
