3 of the Best Theaters in Driving Distance of Sterling, VAAh, nothing is quite like a night out at the theater! When the house lights go down and the stage lights come up, you’re transported into a colorful world of vivid storytelling, deep belly-laughs, fantastic singing, and twirling dances! Going to the theater is a great activity whether you’re on a date night or if you want something the whole family can enjoy together. Luckily, there are many great theaters located around Sterling, VA. Here are our favorites!

1. StageCoach Theater Company

Located a short drive away in Ashburn, StageCoach Theater Company is one of our favorite places to go see a show because of the wide variety of shows they put on! They have magic and comedy shows that will both amaze you and leave you in stitches, large productions like The Wizard of Oz and Legally blonde, and murder mysteries with plenty of opportunities for audience participation! You can visit again and again an see something new each time.

2. NextStop Theater Company

Founded in 1988, NextStop Theater Company has a long tradition of excellence, and is prepared to give you an exhilarating live entertainment experience. They produce between 6 and 10 shows each year and employ 100 artists every season, so while you shouldn’t expect quantity from them you can absolutely expect quality! This season, they’re putting on Little Women, Frankenstein, 46 Plays for America’s First Ladies, and In The Heights.

What we really love about NextStop Theater Company is that they have summer classes for students who want to explore the world of theater! They run from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday, and are led by highly experienced teaching artists. Check their website for more information!

3. The Hub Theater

If you want to give back to the community while you go out, The Hub Theater is a great place to do so! The Hub Theater is a non-profit theater that strives to give the community of Fairfax County the best theatrical experiences possible.

There are several ways you can get involved with The Hub Theater. You can audition by emailing them your headshot and resume. You can do an internship with the theater and learn about artistic administration and management, and you can volunteer! They can always use volunteers in the areas of fundraising, production support, and ushering. So if you’ve always wanted to be a part of the performing arts, this is your chance!
