It’s your turn to pick a restaurant for family night or even date night, but you’re tired of the same old thing. Every week it’s burgers, pizza, or pasta. You crave something different, something a little more unique and flavorful. Here are just a few of the great spots to eat on the wild side in Sterling, Virginia.

Choolaah

In ancient northern India, families gather around the community oven, sanjha chulha, to share their day and stories. Choolaah invites you to join their community to share fabulous food and camaraderie. Order from the Indian Street Food section of the menu for something truly unique. Check out the Samosa Chaat, topped with chickpea masala, non-GMO yogurt, and sweet sauces. Or, how about the Pav Bhaji, an Indian street food favorite? You’ll get a bowl of bhaji vegetables, along with fresh-baked, lightly-buttered buns. Another option is the Samosa, stuffed with peas, potatoes, and exotic spices.

In addition to these unique options, Choolaah also serves protein bowls and wraps for the less adventurous. Add an order of their freshly-baked naan bread to round out your meal. You’ll find them open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at 21426 Epicerie Plaza.

Toosso

If you’d like to experience authentic Pakistani food, check out Toosso, where they provide you with the atmosphere of eating in dhabas, along with great food. Try the Chicken Tikka, a half chicken that has been marinated in spices and yogurt, then grilled and served with roti and spicy tamarind chutney. Another favorite is a stuffed roll, such as the Channan Masala, with chickpeas, sauteed onions, and spices.

Plan your night out for the weekend so that you can enjoy the Nihari, a tender beef shank cooked with spices and herbs in gravy and served with naan. Another weekend-only option is the Haleem, slow-cooked lentils and beef with spices, ginger, lemon, and fried onions. You’ll find Toosso at 20921 Davenport Drive. Their hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday to 9 p.m., and 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A Taste of Burma

When you’re in the mood for homestyle Asian fare made with the freshest ingredients, take a trip to A Taste of Burma. Start your meal off right with the Crispy Bean Sprout and Shrimp, Crispy Fried Calamari, or Golden Finger Tempura. Try the Rangoon Night Market Noodle with chicken, beef, shrimp, or as a vegetarian dish. The Shrimp and Asian Pumpkin is sure to please your wild palate with shrimp and lemongrass cooked with Asian pumpkin in an onion base.

The Beef Slow Cooked in Coconut Cream is delicious with the thick, delicious coconut gravy. Come hungry if you want to try the Triple Layer Pork Stir Fry, made with pork belly and stir-fried vegetables and topped with a hot chili sauce. Check them out Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 126 Edds Lane.

Food doesn’t have to be boring and neither do your dining options. Get out there and try one of these exotic places to feed your wild side.
